WHAT IS TAUGHT?
Lessons for electric bass / double bass. All music styles are covered in class from rock to pop; blues, funk and Latin through to jazz. The lessons consist of the following areas: rhythm, technique, improvisation, developing your own grooves, practical tips, sight-reading, theory, ear training and of course playing, playing, playing!!! In addition to the basics, more specific techniques can also be addressed, such as slapping. The role of the bass player in the band and general tips on how to play with others can also be discussed, as can questions about equipment etc. The ultimate focus is based on the student’s preferences.
WHERE / HOW WILL YOU BE TAUGHT?
ONLINE LESSONS
Online lessons have been available for years, but really broke through due to Corona. Reservations such as: “That’s definitely very complicated with the technology” or “You’ll learn a lot less there” have vanished into thin air, such that some students who previously had “on-site” lessons now regularly continue online. I now have online students around the world. In the picture you can see me in class with Aakash in Mumbai / India.
ON-SITE LESSONS
Classes take place in Essen – Bergerhausen at Muldeweg 12 and can be easily reached by car and various public transport options. Currently, when the city isn’t under lockdown, lessons take place at a distance and with „mouth and nose protection“ so as to give Corona no chance.
The two options can be combined. For example, you can opt for “on-site” lessons and, during a particularly stressful week, save yourself the journey and simply take an „online“ lesson.

HOW OFTEN ARE LESSONS?
I recommend 45 minutes per week for individual lessons. In almost all cases, this timing has worked out well. Naturally, other timeframes are also possible by arrangement. For students who are ambitious about studying at a university (or similar), it can make sense to increase the teaching time to 90 minutes a week.
THE TEACHER: ANDREAS REINHARD
Andreas Reinhard is a graduate of the Professional Program at FMS Aschaffenburg and studied pop and jazz at the Arnhem University of the Arts (NL). Andreas has been a professional bass player for 20 years. As a freelancer, he has played countless concerts and shows in clubs, halls, on radio and TV from Germany to China. He is happy to pass on his musical know-how and enthusiasm for music. As a bass coach and music teacher, he can look back on many years of experience in teaching, workshops and band coaching. Andreas knows where there is typically a problem within a topic and where the solutions can be found.
